Advent Health Presentation
It was a wonderful experience meeting Dr. Kathryn Lohmann, the Program Director for the Advent Residency Program. She warmly welcomed me, understood our purpose, and extended a supportive hand, leaving me feeling encouraged. Dr. Lohmann provided a fantastic opportunity for me to present my company to future physicians, sharing our mission and goals. I also had the privilege of introducing Safe Needle Disposal GA and engaging with young doctors, addressing their questions and concerns. Moreover, I had the honor of presenting biohazard boxes to Advent Internal Medicine residents, who serve the underprivileged through their continuity clinic in Rome, Georgia. This connection to their cause is meaningful, and meeting these actively involved residents was truly inspiring.
Piedmont Healthcare – Meeting with Jan Tidwell (Chief Nursing Office)
It was a pleasure meeting Jan Tidwell, the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) at Piedmont Cartersville. Piedmont Healthcare Hospitals is a leading nonprofit healthcare system in Georgia, and I was pleased to learn that she used to be a Diabetes educator before becoming a CNO. She fully supports our program and recognizes the community’s need. Piedmont Hospitals already offer free diabetes classes, and they are interested in providing biohazard boxes for the participants in the community. We are exploring potential partnerships, whether through funding or grants, to further expand our efforts. Thank you for your time, Dr. Tidwell!
Rotary Club of Etowah Presentation
I had an excellent experience delivering a presentation at the Etowah Rotary Club. I’m grateful to the club members for their engaging discussions and attentiveness. It was a pleasure to meet the Mayor of Cartersville, and I appreciate his support. Special thanks to my advisors, Patricia Spivey and Marty Sonenshine, for their unwavering support for this program.
UGA Diabetes Prevention Class
Exploring the community, I joined a UGA-sponsored CDC course with Angelica Bridges, RD. I met her, provided safe needle boxes to her patients, attended her class, and learned about proper nutrition principles. Many thanks to Mrs. Bridges for this enriching experience!
Walmart Health Visit
I met Jennifer at Walmart Health to discuss my safe needle project idea and gained valuable insights from her on how to expand our outreach within the community. Additionally, I provided bio-hazard boxes for safe needle disposal.
Department of Public Health – Sharpes Container distribution
Visited the Cartersville Department of Public Health to deliver boxes and express gratitude for their support throughout the process. I am thankful to Maria and Cindy for meeting me in person and enlightening me about the patients’ needs at the Department of Public Health. This collaboration holds great potential, especially considering the interest shown by not only the Bartow County Health Department but also the Paulding County Health Department.
